| Death SS - New signing and new album 'Resurrection' |
As its title suggests, ‘Resurrection’ marks the return of seminal heavy metal band Death SS and its charismatic leader Steve Sylvester.
The band’s latest album, ‘The Seventh Seal’, came out to critical acclaim some 7 years ago in 2006.
‘Resurrection’ alternates the two topics that have always been the main inspirations behind the Death SS project: horror movies and occultism.
But for the first time ever, Steve wanted to add another one of his main influences in a more explicit way: the Italian sexy-horror comics of the Seventies! The beautiful illustrations used for the album cover and booklet were handled by the great "maestro" Emanuele Taglietti, an internationally renowned painter and author of all the covers of cult adult comics such as ‘Belzeba’, ‘Zora’, ‘Sukia’, ‘Cimiteria’, ‘La Poliziotta’ to name a few.
A big change happened also on the production front. For the first time after the release of ‘Black Mass’ in 1989, Steve produced the album himself without the supervision of a well known, external producer, simply relying on the experience he has matured in almost 35 years of career in the music business. These 12 new songs represent one of the finest bands in heavy metal still on top of its game. Follow www.deathss.com for all the updates. |

| Angels Of Babylon - New signing and new album 'Thundergod' |
Angels Of Babylon have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their long-waited second album. Founded by former Manowar drummer Kenny “Rhino” Earl in 2008, Angels Of Babylon released their debut album ‘Kingdom Of Evil’ in 2010, which featured another heavy metal legend, Dave Ellefson (of Megadeth fame) on bass guitar. ‘Thunder God’, this is the confirmed title of the new album, is as a collection of epic, melodic and heavy songs that will inspire and arouse the imagination, a timeless piece of work that any real heavy metal fan will treasure for many years to come. Here is how Rhino commented the event: “This record is a real labour of love. It is epic and memorable. I don’t like to write the standard macho metal songs. People may or may not be surprised that there are songs written from the heart. I never compromise my art. Also, there is no quantizing, no triggers, this album is 100% organic. Melody, emotion and energy… this is the focal point of all of our songs. I like my lyrics to be more about fantasy, real life experiences and historic events rather than going too dark and sinister. Although, you might find a shadow here and there. The song ‘Thunder God’ is dedicated to my friend Scott Columbus. May you keep your hammer high!” |

| Kill Ritual - New signing and debut album 'The Serpentine Ritual' |
Formed in late 2010 by former Imagika lead guitarist Steven Rice and drummer Wayne DeVecchi, Kill Ritual is completed by former Eldritch guitarist Roberto Proietti, former Dark Angel bassist Danyael Williams and Bay Area vocalist Josh Gibson. Kill Ritual have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their debut album ‘The Serpentine Ritual’, which finds the band unleashing 11 tracks of straight-up metal that is both modern and classic while retaining the legacy of their past bands. The album was recorded and engineered by Kill Ritual lead guitarist Steve Rice at Fang Studios in San Mateo, CA and Fossil Sound in San Jose, CA. Mix and Mastering was done by Andy LaRocque of King Diamond fame at his Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden. LaRocque also makes a guest appearance on the CD with the ending solo on the track ‘Coat Of Blood’.
Commented Steven: “After the demise of Imagika, Wayne and I decided to form a new band that would bring life to the music we had been working on after Imagika called it a day. We had a goal in mind of writing music that reflected our influences from Thrash, to Classic, Progressive, Power, whatever-kicks-ass Metal and this required bringing in experienced players that have been there and done that. We were lucky enough to come in contact with Roberto and Danyael, who had the kind of pedigree and experience we were definitely looking for. Having both been in bands that have released numerous albums worldwide and toured extensively, they are a perfect fit for this new band. The missing element was, of course, vocalist Josh, who came into the band with the work ethic, experience and attitude that is essential as a vocalist to help the songs take on a life of their own. His unique and identifiable vocal style is the change we needed from our past projects as we definitely had the idea of Kill Ritual taking a new direction from our collective past bands and I think we have achieved that. I mean, what's the point of rehashing what you've already done?” |

| Whyzdom - New signing and new album 'Blind?' |
Following the acclaimed debut ‘From The Brink Of Infinity’, Whyzdom have signed a deal with Scarlet Records and are proud to present ‘Blind?’, their new album. The band, which is known for their own signature approach to Symphonic Metal, blend once more intricate orchestral parts (including all the subtleties of strings, winds, brass, classical percussions, piano, harp etc.) and a real choir with the power of Heavy Metal. Through a coherence that hides the inherent complexity of this genre, Elvyne Lorient’s passionate melodies immediately stick into your mind, conveying pure emotions right from the very first note she sings. The album title not only refers to the blindness of people towards what’s happening around them, but also to the fact that we, as humans, often deliberately choose to be blind in many uncomfortable circumstances, which eventually lead us on the wrong path of life. ‘Blind?’ was produced by Vynce Leff, recorded and mixed in Paris at Powermania Studio and mastered by Mathieu Gillon and Vynce Leff at 120dB Studio. The stunning artwork is the result of a collaboration between X-Nihilo Design, Les Créations Vultus and Florent Cuaz, who gave real life to Whyzdom’s visual universe.

Pioneers of Finnish female-fronted Metal Lullacry will release their long-waited fifth album 'Where Angels Fear’ on April 16th on Scarlet Records. The album, which marks the first Lullacry release since 2005's 'Vol. 4', was produced by Mikko Herranen, who also sings a duet with Tanja in the track 'Feel My Revenge'. The album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers in Helsinki. Here is how guitarist Sami Leppikangas commented the event:
“Yes it sure has taken a lot of time and many things have happened. Last year has probably been the best we've had in Lullacry, at least when it comes to vibes. And you can hear that in the album. For the first time I made the songs without thinking that I have to do a goth ballad or a rock song. We just did things more spontaneously and it led to an album that is a lot more dark, ambitious and multi-dimensional than its predecessors. We’ve also paid a lot more attention to the lyrics and the production, which is much more dynamic. It will be awesome to go and play these new tunes to people, we've really waited this moment for so long.”

Formed in 2007, Evenoire combine a wide range of influences, from Gothic to Symphonic Metal with a very distinctive Medieval/Folk approach, which has already attracted overwhelming response from the international underground Metal scene. A special mention goes to extraordinary lead vocalist Lisy Stefanoni, whose ethereal and powerful voice adds an extra dimension to the melodies and makes her one of the most promising female singers around.
‘Vitriol’ was recorded at Dreamsound Studios in Munich, Germany, with Mario Lochert (Emergency Gate, Graveworm, Visions Of Atlantis) behind theconsolle. Mastering and Mixing duties were handled by Jan Vacik (Dreamscape). The album features a very special guest appearance by German soprano Gaby Koss (Haggard, Equilibrium, Nota Profana) in the song ‘Misleading Paradise’. Check out www.evenoire.it for more info. |
