Michele Luppi, born in 1974, approached music whilst still a child, starting his musical studies on the piano. It was, however, not until the early 1990s that Michele “discovered” his voice; and from that moment the live performances, the studies, the new findings and the success followed uninterruptedly, thanks to hard and restless work.
In ’98 he graduated from VIT Los Angeles and, upon returning to Italy, set upon a series of collaborations, both on stage and in the studio; these brought notoriety and experience, having the opportunity of singing alongside some of the most important Italian and international artists, among which include: Maurizio Solieri, Andrea Braido, Glenn Hughes and Ian Paice. Strong in a singing style, which has become unique, Michele started teaching demonstrating great passion, working both privately, as well as with some of the most important Italian music schools.
With his cover band MR. PIG he creates a concert-show that draws great attention to the group, both from the audience and the staff.
MR. PIG’s reputation is in continual growth. In addition, in the period between 2002 and 2003 he undertook two World Tours as keyboard player/backing singer for Umberto Tozzi. In September 2003 he joined Vision Divine as frontman and actively participated in the writing and creation of “Stream of Consciousness”. The album, released world-wide between April and May 2004, has been highly praised in reviews by various specialised magazines and webzines throughout the world, which have also dedicated a lot of space and invaluable praise to his vocal performance. A strong “Live” attitude also saw him performing in several Festivals and support slots opening for some great bands (Dream Theater amongst others); this exceptional accomplishment undoubtedly represents one of his most important strengths.
Michele attended to every aspect of the recording of “STRIVE” right down to the smallest of details, covering the multiple roles of Songwriter, Producer, Arranger, Musician, Sound Engineer and of course Singer. Recorded at MiLu’s RockLab (his own Recording Studio) this first official launch as a solo artist is characterised by a “crystalline” production that reflects the work and the artistic maturity of Michele, which started way back in 1990 with his first demo “The First Seal”.
A versatile artist, gifted with an incredible voice for its power, range and intonation whose main strengths lie in his professionalism and sheer quality.
Strong through various experiences with Italian and international artists such as Ian Paice, Carl Palmer, Umberto Tozzi, Maurizio Solieri, Andrea Braido and many more, Michele Luppi reached the goal of releasing his first album as a mature artist, with regards to both the composition as well as the artistic production. In fact, Michele follows this project in toto covering the roles of Songwriter, Producer, Arranger, Musician, and of course Singer. In 2003 he became part of Vision Divine with whom he recorded the band’s third album entitled “Stream of Consciousness”. Michele’s contribution during the song writing stage is instantly recognisable and all of the specialised magazines don’t fail to underline his great class, both in the song writing and performance. The album was released worldwide in the spring of 2004, and was followed-up with a successful tour which reached some of the most important venues and festivals in Italy. The experience brought recognition and appraisal to Michele even from abroad. Currently, the band is working on the new album, to be entitled “The Perfect Machine”.
“STRIVE” – this is the title of his first album, which is due to be released through Scarlet Records. It’s an album in the AOR, Melodic Rock style, which expresses class and emotion in all areas demonstrating both the Rock grains along with those slightly softer of Michele. An album which comfortably satisfies the most refined tastes, and whose true strengths are the songs, since Michele’s taste for melody embeds his roots deriving from tutors such as Europe, Bon Jovi and his first love, KISS.
Made precious by a an impeccable production and by a crystalline sound, followed right down to the smallest details by Michele himself, this album sees the collaboration of important artists deriving from the Italian musical scene. On lead guitar we find, as well as being Michele’s “ever-lasting comrade”, Michele “Dr. Viossy” Vioni (MR. PIG): Maurizio Solieri (Vasco Rossi, Steve Rogers Band, Class), Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, 883), Alex De Rosso (Dokken), Alberto Bergonzoni (Gli Atroci) and Olaf Thorsen (Labyrinth, Vision Divine). On bass we find Giorgio “JT” Terenziani (MR. PIG), Roberto Galli (Spagna, Umberto Tozzi) and Paolo Gialdi (Mietta, Pontello’s). The album is enriched by some superb episodes with Oleg Smirnoff (Vision Divine) on keyboards, Mimmo Camporeale (Vasco Rossi, Steve Rogers Band) playing the Hammond Organ and Vic Johnson (Class) on harmonica. All drum parts are played by Helder Stefanini.
Michele Luppi’s Heaven - This is the name of the project in which the Artist, originating from Reggio Emilia, worked for 4 long years spent between Tours, Studio Recordings, Teaching and many other experiences, which have enriched the objective value of “STRIVE”. An album which is written and sung in English, the language of Rock. Michele, amongst other things, spent 1994 in the USA and in 1998 he graduated from VIT Los Angeles with a diploma in modern singing. This helped him in achieving a perfect pronunciation and assisted in his ability of writing refined lyrics, one of his strengths.
Michele Luppi performs the tracks contained on “STRIVE” live with his band MR. PIG, fast becoming one of the most important realities in Rock in the north of Italy. They are currently recording their Debut Album which is due for release in Winter 2005, Spring 2006.
