Born in May 1984 with inspiration coming from prominent acts such as Venom, Sodom, Discharge and Hellhammer, Schizo can be considered one of the finest and most respected extreme bands to ever originate in Europe. After the release of three demo tapes which back then created an enormous impact on the underground metal scene and are now considered true “cult” recordings, Schizo finalized the line up with the addition of Necrodeath’s legendary screamer Ingo and gave birth to the long-celebrated masterpiece ‘Main Frame Collapse’ in 1989. With that album Schizo managed to score really high in the Italian independent album charts and got more than favourable reviews in the music press, hitting hard on the whole metal scene. Shortly after, an old idea of Schizo’s founding member Alberto and drummer Peso (Necrodeath and Sadist fame) gave birth to another legendary LP named ‘Project One’ combining influences and suggestions from both Necrodeath and Schizo, picking up the monicker Mondocane to identify this new, exciting musical project. With the Nineties approaching, a series of circumstances, including (mostly) personal problems between founding members Alberto, Carlo and S.B., lead to the departure of these last two, but after almost two years of complete silence, Schizo came back on the map with a brand new line up, including guitarist Vittorio and drummer Pat, joining Ingo and Alberto. The result of months of rehearsal and serious commitments of time and money was ‘Wounds (In The Clay)’, which saw Schizo taking a giant step forward in both songwriting and production departments.

1993 saw Schizo releasing the ‘Sounds Of Coming Darkness’ MCD, recorded in the same Fon Studio where Fear Factory where mixing ‘Soul Of A New Machine’ and mastered at the exclusive Abbey Road Studios in London. Unfortunately, bad luck always seemed to obstacle Schizo’s glorious musical journey and despite the guy’s unstoppable ambition was almost leading them to collaborate with renowed engineer Andy Sneap for a brand-new full-length album, other line up changes occurred and, as if that was not enough, their label financially broke down, leaving Schizo completely scattered. A long period of inactivity followed, only interrupted by very rare live appearances… The Nineties were ending and Schizo were not showing any relevant signs of life…

2007 saw Schizo coming back with a new back-breaking, psychotic and heavy-than-ever metal massacre, ‘Cicatriz Black', on Scarlet records, with production duties held by Schizo themselves and mastering by renowed Peter In De Betou (Marduk, Meshuggah, Bokor). Cover artwork was made by Italian artist Lorenzo Mariani (Mayhem, Darkthrone, Marduk,1349, Aborym) and last but not least, guest appearances included Steve Sylvester (Death SS), AC Wild (Bulldozer) and Flegias (Necrodeath).

Three years after ‘Cicatriz Black’ was released, an album which was very well received by fans and media worldwide, Schizo are finally back withy their brand-new effort ‘Hallucination Cramps’, a new, “anomalous” concept album, focused on the theme of schizophrenia and mental illness, out on 22nd February 2010 on Scarlet Records. This is without any doubt their darkest and most violent record to date, an overdose of ultra-fast-psycho-thrash ready to blow you away!

For those who never stopped to believe, Schizo are finally back! And one thing is for sure: the magic is still there!
