It was early in 2007 when Vasstago decided to start the band with Magdalena, adding his throat voice to Magdalena’s dramatic soprano voice and making brilliant powerful melodic gothic / fantasy metal.
Magdalena is also the main-composer, keyboardist, violinist and vocalist of the band. She started very early in her childhood playing violin, piano and guitar. She graduated from the classic academy in Russia as a music teacher and continued her studies at the Sibelius academy in Helsinki. She’s also played and sung in different bands, orchestras and choirs. Magdalena is a dramatic soprano with a powerful, rich and emotive voice with a dark timbre, so she can sing over a full orchestra.
As for Vasstago, he sung and wrote lyrics in different bands in the past. He is also the lyricist for Tears Of Magdalena. Peuge, the drummer, has a lot of experience in playing his instrument. He is an important member of the band and he contributes heavily to the songwriting and the arrangements of the songs, as well as Tomi (bass) another very experienced musician with strong composing skills.
The finnish four-piece, as a result, plays a grandious melodic and symphonic power/gothic metal in the vein of Nightwish, After Forever and Epica, with and extreme and dramatic edge that can bring to mind bands such as early Tristania, early Theatre Of Tragedy and Dimmu Borgir. ‘Myths And Legends’ is the confirmed title for the band’s debut album, mastered by Mika Jussila at legendary Finnvox Studios in Helsinki (Nightwish, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica) and expected to be released in October 2008. Artwork was entirely designed by Nerve Design (Nile, Threshold, Vision Divine, Extrema, Sadist). Be sure not to miss it!
